Man drowned in Cedar River south of Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON - A man drowned in the Cedar River Friday afternoon, according to the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's office, Mount Vernon police and fire, Lisbon police and the Lisbon Mount Vernon Ambulance service responded to a report of a man who fell into the river at 944 Ivanhoe Circle south of Highway 1 around 3:09 p.m. Friday. There, authorities found an unresponsive 68-year-old man.
The sheriff's office said the man died at the scene. His name has not yet been released.
The incident remains under investigation.
