CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man is accused of robbing a Cedar Rapids convenience store at knifepoint.
According to Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow and the Linn County Attorney's Office, around 3:17 a.m. Saturday, a patrol officer noticed a man standing in front of Casey's General Store, 1661 32nd St. NE, holding a knife and a large amount of cash. The man - later identified as 19-year-old Anthony R. Skriver - walked to a pickup in the parking lot. Police said the officer ordered Skriver to drop the knife and he complied. He admitted to robbing the store.
Police learned through their investigation that Skriver had gone into the store, pulled the knife and demanded cash. Authorities also learned Skriver drove to the convenience store from Muscatine in a vehicle he had stolen. Additionally, he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana, police said.
Authorities said Skriver also cut through a strap holding a motorcycle in place in a truck parked at Casey's and damaged a phone at the Linn County Jail after he was booked.
Skriver has been charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree theft, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of fifth-degree criminal mischief.
