Iowa City woman faces prison time after assault

IOWA CITY - An Iowa City woman faces prison time for assaulting another woman inside her home.
According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, on July 10, 30-year-old Patrice C. McAfee went to an apartment on Crosspark Avenue and spoke with the resident there. Police said surveillance video shows McAfee then hitting the woman on the side of the face, grabbing her by the hair and punching her repeatedly in the head.
Police said the victim tried to retreat back into her home, but McAfee followed her and continued the assault.
McAfee was arrested and faces one count of first-degree burglary, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
