Burlington man accused of Iowa City burglary, car theft

IOWA CITY - A Burlington man is accused of breaking into an Iowa City residence and stealing a car.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, sometime between 5 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. Sept. 3, 36-year-old Casey T. Leedham forced his way into a home in the 300 block of N. Linn Street. While inside, Leedham swiped a set of car keys and used it to steal a vehicle parked in the alley, police said.
Police said Leedham could be seen on video footage from the nearby Laundromania making several trips to the alley.
Leedham was later found in Washington County with the keys to the stolen vehicle. Police said Leedham had other items taken in the burglary with him, as well. Leedham told Washington County sheriff's deputies that the stolen vehicle could be found in Henry County.
In addition to the burglary and theft, police said Leedham damaged a bathroom inside Laundromania the same morning. Leedham is visible on video going in and out of the bathroom between 5:09 a.m. and 6:18 a.m. Sept. 3. Police said Leedham pulled a toilet and toilet paper dispenser from the wall, broke picture frames and turned over a garbage receptacle. The damage done to the bathroom was estimated at $2,000.
Leedham faces charges of second-degree burglary, a Class C felony; second-degree theft, a Class D felony; and second-degree criminal mischief, a Class D felony.
