NORTH LIBERTY - Two Liberty High School students lost consciousness on the same day last month, police said.
Both students reported taking a prescription pill purchased from another individual.
North Liberty Police Chief Diane Venenga said Monday that on Nov. 30, officers were called to Liberty High School for an emergency medical call related to a 15-year-old student who had lost consciousness. Police said the student regained consciousness, was treated by paramedics at the scene and was picked up by parents.
However, while police were at the scene, a second 15-year-old lost consciousness and was assisted by paramedics. That student was also released to parents.
Venenga said both students reported having taken a Xanax pill provided to them by another individual. That individual, a minor, was arrested for distributing a controlled substance, an aggravated misdemeanor, Venenga said.
