Iowa City woman arrested after heroin overdose in her home

IOWA CITY - An Iowa City woman faces charges after a heroin overdose took place in her home.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, around 11:49 a.m. Jan. 1, a heroin overdose happened at 2635 Westwinds Drive No. 3, the home of 30-year-old Dezi P. Kriegler. Police said Kriegler admitted to purchasing the heroin for the victim before the overdose, which was confirmed through an investigation.
Sgt. Scott Gaarde said the overdose was non-fatal.
Police said a small amount of heroin and drug paraphernalia were found at Kriegler's residence.
Kriegler was arrested and faces charges of controlled substance violation, a Class C felony; and possession of a controlled substance, a serious misdemeanor.
