A Vinton woman died Friday when the vehicle she was driving was struck by another vehicle.
The crash happened around 1:40 p.m. Friday on Highway 218 at 61st Street, south of Vinton, according to a crash report issued by the Iowa State Patrol.
Crystal Offerman, 37, of Vinton, was southbound on Highway 218 in a Jeep Wrangler. She was stopped, waiting to turn east on 61st Street when her vehicle was struck from behind by a Vinton-Shellsburg school bus.
Offerman’s vehicle was pushed into the path of another vehicle that was traveling north on Highway 218. That vehicle struck Offerman’s vehicle.
Offerman, who the report indicates was not wearing a seat belt, was transported by ambulance to University of Iowa Health Care in Iowa City. She died of her injuries.
The report states that there were six children on the bus when it struck Offerman’s vehicle. None were injured.
