MARION — Nathan Hopp has announced his resignation as Linn-Mar High School girls’ track and field coach.
“While I have enjoyed my time coaching here at Linn-Mar and all the athletes, coaches, and others I have had the pleasure of working with, I feel a change is needed in my life,” Hopp said Thursday in a release.
Hopp has led the program since 2013 and coached stars like Peyton Wensel, Stephanie Jenks and, most recently, Abby Mecklenburg.
The Lions were Class 4A state runners-up in 2015.
“It has been a privilege and honor to represent Linn-Mar the past 13 seasons, and hope that my successor will continue to elevate the program to the same, if not greater, heights,” Hopp said.
Hopp said he plans to continue working at the high school in the Guided Studies program.
