Postseason assignments for boys’ tennis in Iowa released

Postseason assignments for boys’ tennis in Iowa were released by the Iowa High School Athletic Association on Friday.

The district singles and doubles tournament will be held on May 14. Champions and runners-up in both singles and doubles at each of the eight sites in both Class 1A and 2A will advance to the state tournament, set for May 27-28.

Class 1A qualifiers will play at Byrnes Park in Waterloo. The Hawkeye Recreation and Tennis Complex in Iowa City will host the 2A state meet.

Seeding will be determined at a meeting of the coaches before the start of each district.

Team competition will begin May 17 with the first two rounds of duals to be hosted by the top two seeds in each substate. First-round matches begin at 9 a.m. with the next round at noon or 60 minutes following the completion of the last of the first-round duals. Substate finals will take place May 21 at 3:30 p.m., hosted by the top remaining seed.

Seedings for substate brackets have been determined by coaches’ meetings. Complete brackets will be released next Friday.

The eight substate champions qualify for the state meet, to be held June 3-4. Class 1A teams will play Hawkeye Recreation and Tennis Complex in Iowa City. Waukee Northwest will serve as the 2A host.
