All-Metro boys’ basketball team announced

CEDAR RAPIDS - Davis Kern of Linn-Mar has been named Player of the Year in the Metro area as part of the All-Metro boys’ basketball team.
The team is selected by the seven head coaches in Cedar Rapids and Marion. That includes Chris Robertson of Linn-Mar, who is the 2024-25 Coach of the Year.
Kern is a 6-foot-9 senior who has signed to play college ball at South Dakota State. He averages 22.9 points and 9.9 rebounds per game, last week surpassing Marcus Paige to become the Metro’s all-time leading career scorer.
Robertson led Linn-Mar to an undefeated season in the Mississippi Valley Conference, a No. 2 ranking at the end of the regular season by the Iowa High School Athletic Association and to next week’s Class 4A portion of the state tournament.
Kern and Cedar Rapids Kennedy senior guard Trey McKowen are the only members of the first team who are unanimous selections. Below are the entire All-Metro teams.
