CEDAR RAPIDS - The No. 1 teams in last week’s initial boys’ basketball rankings from the Iowa High School Athletic Association are the No. 1 teams in this week’s boys’ basketball rankings from the Iowa High School Athletic Association.
They would be Cedar Falls in Class 4A, Huxley Ballard in 3A, Western Christian in 2A and Bellevue Marquette in 1A. The new poll was released Monday afternoon.
Cedar Falls is 9-0 as it enters a three-game week that includes a matchup Thursday night at sixth-ranked Linn-Mar and one Saturday at once-beaten Ames.
Cedar Rapids Kennedy (8-2) remains fourth in 4A, West Des Moines Valley second, and Waukee Northwest third. Muscatine (8-0) moved up a spot to fifth, with Dubuque Senior (6-2) staying at 10 after a last-second, two-point loss last Friday night at Kennedy.
Cedar Rapids Xavier (7-3) and Mount Vernon (9-1) enter the Class 3A rankings this week. Huxley Ballard (8-0) remains No. 1, followed by Clear Lake, Decorah (8-0) and Dubuque Wahlert.
Western Christian (9-2) remains atop 2A, followed by Carroll Kuemper, Grand View Christian, West Lyon and Orange City Unity Christian. Monticello (9-0) stays at No. 7, with Cascade (8-2) dropping from ninth to 10th after a loss over the weekend to Decorah.
Bellevue Marquette (11-0) and Madrid stay at first and second in Class 1A this week. Remsen St. Mary’s inched up from fourth to third, followed by Woodbine and Gladbrook-Reinbeck.
