Linn-Mar’s Christian Cloyd ties for 8th at Class 4A state golf meet
Cedar Rapids Prairie finishes 12th in team race; Johnston, Cedar Falls’ Anthony Galvin win titles

ANKENY – Linn-Mar’s Christian Cloyd shot 76 in the final round and tied for eighth at the Iowa High School Athletic Association Class 4A state golf meet Tuesday at Briarwood Golf Club. Johnston captured the team title with a two-day total of 607, topping runner-up Dubuque Wahlert by five.
Cedar Falls’ Anthony Galvin prevented Johnston from a sweep. Galvin shot 74 to tie Dragons’ first-round leader Andrew Johannsen at 144. Galvin captured the individual title, winning a sudden-victory playoff after two holes.
Cloyd opened the tournament with a 75 Monday, giving him an overall score of 7-over 151 for the two-round event. The Lions’ two-time state participant improved last year’s 12th-place finish.
Western Dubuque’s Brock Wilson also earned his best state placing in three appearances. The Bobcats senior improved 26 spots from Day 1 to Day 2. He shot 75 Tuesday and tied for 24th. Iowa City West’s Emery Crawford made his second straight state appearance and posted a 164.
Cedar Rapids Prairie qualified for the third time and placed 12th with 653.
