The top-ranked team in Class 3A lost by a score of 21-20.

Seven days later, new No. 1 Algona (6-1) fell to No. 7 Humboldt (6-1) by the same score. The Wildcats’ only loss, by the way, is to 4A No. 3 North Polk.
