Iowa high school baseball 2024: Gazette area players to watch
Trio of Super Team all-state selections highlight individual talent

Here are Gazette area players to watch as the 2024 Iowa high school baseball season starts Monday.
Brett White, sr., Solon — Batted .460 with a .609 on-base percentage, tallied 58 hits with 17 doubles and seven home runs, drove in 38 RBIs, Wamac East Division Player of the Year, first-team all-Wamac and Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association all-state super teams.
Brett Harris, soph., Western Dubuque — Tallied 61 hits and 41 RBIs, posted .412 batting average with .517 on-base percentage, 84 total bases and 48 runs. First-team MVC Valley and IHSBCA all-state super teams.
Luke Sigwarth, sr., Dyersville Beckman — Named to IHSBCA All-state super team, first-team all-River Valley Conference, batted .456 with .562 on-base percentage, 47 hits, 38 runs, three home runs and 29 RBIs, 2-0 record with 2.62 earned-run average.
Nolan Grawe, sr., Cedar Rapids Kennedy — Recorded .440 batting average with 62 hits, including 18 doubles, two triples and three home runs, tallied 93 total bases, 46 runs and 28 RBIs, first-team MVC Valley and IHSBCA 4A all-state teams.
Jake Goodman, sr., Western Dubuque — Batted .347 with .481 on-base percentage, amassed 51 hits and 51 runs, four home runs, 34 RBIs and 79 total bases, first-team all-MVC Valley and IHSBCA 3A all-state teams.
Karson Grout, sr., Mid-Prairie — Recorded 48 hits, 12 doubles, four triples and four home runs, drove in 37 and scored 34 runs, finished with .457 batting average and .551 on-base percentage, first-team RVC South, IHSBCA 2A first-team all-state.
Talon Young, jr., Iowa City High — Compiled 8-1 record with a 0.89 ERA and 0.91 WHIP, 50 strikeouts in 62 2/3 innings pitched, had 17 hits with a home run and .366 on-base percentage, first-team MVC Valley, IHSBCA 4A second-team all-state.
Dylan Muszynski, jr., Linn-Mar — Batted .385 with .474 on-base percentage, had 50 hits, including three triples, 31 runs and 26 RBIs, finished with 43 stolen bases, first-team MVC Valley, IHSBCA 4A all-state second team.
Tate Proskovec, jr., Cedar Rapids Xavier — Posted 5-2 record, finished with 1.18 ERA and 1.06 WHIP, struck out 48 batters in 47 1/3 innings, allowed just eight earned runs, second-team MVC Mississippi and IHSBCA 3A second-team all-state.
Reid Burkle, sr., Cedar Rapids Prairie — Went 6-0 record with a 1.88 ERA and 1.14 WHIP, struck out 57 batters in 48 1.3 innings pitched, held opponents to .217 batting average, first-team MVC Mississippi, IHSBCA second-team northeast all-district.
Nile Sinn, jr., Williamsburg — Batted .363 with a .421 on-base percentage, pounded 49 hits including 17 doubles, one triple and a home run, knocked in 22 runs and scored 33, recorded three wins with a 2.86 ERA, first-team all-Wamac, IHSBCA 2A second-team all-state.
Mason Bechen, jr., North Linn — Amassed 38 hits with five home runs, four triples and four doubles, scored 41 runs, batted .418 with a .538 on-base percentage and 65 total bases, IHSBCA 1A second-team all-state, all-Tri Rivers Conference.
Cooper Hummel, jr., Cascade — Batted .380 with .470 on-base percentage, tallied 41 hits including 16 doubles and one home run, drove in 27 runs and scored 27, posted 2-1 record with 23 strikeouts in 17 2/3, held opponents to .167 batting average, IHSBCA 2A Northeast all-district, first-team all-RVC North.
Cam Lind, sr., Lansing Kee — Led Kee with 43 hits last season, batting .394 with a .492 on-base percentage, hard eight doubles, a triple and four home runs, scored 29 runs, drove in 28 runs, all-Upper Iowa Conference, IHSBCA 3A third-team all-state.
Grant Mather, sr., Cedar Rapids Kennedy — Posted a 7-1 record with a 2.38 ERA and 1.09 WHIP, 54 strikeouts in 53 innings, batted .342 with .458 on-base percentage, 40 hits, 11 doubles, four home runs and 35 RBIs, first-team MVC Valley and IHSBCA 4A third-team all-state.
Trey Franck, sr., Marion — Batted .393 with a .525 on-base percentage, tallied 42 hits, including eight doubles, three triples and a home run, scored 36 runs, 18-for-18 in stolen bases, first-team all-Wamac, IHSBCA 3A third-team all-state.
