Parents can be pretty sappy.

I asked a few what they really wanted their kids to get them for the holidays this year. The universal answer? Something sentimental — and all about you.

(This goes for grandparents, aunts, uncles, and almost all important grown-ups, by the way.)

One of the simplest and most meaningful gifts to give is a tree ornament. Print and fill in the blanks in this template and draw a self-portrait. Then cut it out, punch a hole in the top, and tie ribbon or string through it. If you have supplies, draw or doodle on the back and sprinkle the whole thing with glitter.

Voila! A homemade ornament a grown-up is guaranteed to love.
