Here are the 2023 Iowa high school girls’ state swimming and diving qualifiers

Two-time defending state champion Waukee has the top qualifier in six events and is second in three others for the Iowa high school girls’ state swimming meet, set for this Friday and Saturday at the Marshalltown YMCA.

The Warriors, winners at last Saturday's Linn-Mar state qualifying meet, are a heavy favorite to win their third straight team title.

Among area qualifiers, Iowa City High junior Grace Hoeper will be the top seed in her efforts to defend her state title in the 50-yard freestyle. Hoeper had the top qualifying time of 23.37. She also is the second seed in the 100 freestyle behind Waukee’s Nora Kemp.

Iowa City West’s Kamila Swanson is the second seed in diving. Her qualifying score of 490.80 is second behind Marshalltown's Abby Tollefson (536.95).

Preliminaries in individual swim events will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with the diving competition set for 4:30 p.m. Swimming finals are set to begin at noon Saturday.
