Top-ranked teams in Class 4A and Class A fall

Another new No. 1 in Class 4A? A week after Cedar Rapids Xavier barely fell out of the top spot, newly-crowned Adel ADM lost a 38-31 thriller against eighth-ranked Council Bluffs Lewis Central.
Three of the top-four teams in 4A actually lost, with fifth-ranked Xavier bouncing back with a 22-20 win over No. 3 Western Dubuque.
But 4A wasn’t the only class with upheaval this week. In Class A, fifth-ranked Saint Ansgar knocked off No. 1 West Hancock, 24-15.
Here’s a look at how all 73 teams ranked in The Gazette’s poll fared in Week 3.
