Man injured in SE Cedar Rapids shooting

A man was injured in a shooting Monday night in the Wellington Heights neighborhood, according to a Cedar Rapids public safety news release.

At 9:06 p.m., officers were dispatched for a report of shots fired in the 1400 block of Washington Avenue SE, which is also the southern boundary of Huston Park.

Officers found a man with gunshot wounds. He was treated at the scene and transported to a hospital with what were considered non-life-threatening injuries, the release stated.

Investigators are requesting that witnesses or those with video surveillance in the area come forward to assist with the investigation.
