The Gazette
Sep. 17, 2022 5:00 am
Iowa (1-1) looks to bounce back from a Cy-Hawk loss when it hosts Nevada (2-1) in its non-conference finale Saturday night at Kinnick Stadium.
Here are our predictions, plus viewing information and complete pregame coverage.
Predictions
Line — Iowa -23
Mike Hlas — Reno and Iowa City are connected by I-80, which I keep driving past on I-380 because they changed the exits in the renovation, and that’s just the beginning of this wild story that (continued on page 17C). Iowa 42, Nevada 3
John Steppe — This is the offense’s best shot at putting the O back in I-WA. Iowa 20, Nevada 3
Jeff Johnson — Dear John letters, Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” and Loverboy’s lead singer. What do they all have in common. Reno, of course. Iowa 14, Nevada 0
Rob Gray— Nevada is coming off a 55-41 loss to Incarnate Word. Maybe the Cardinals are that good, since they’ve also spanked typically solid Southern Illinois. Maybe that shouldn’t matter, either way. It doesn’t. The Hawkeyes are too good defensively and solve at least some of their woes on the offensive side of the ball in an easy win. Iowa 31, Nevada 3
Beth Malicki — My husband begged me not to talk publicly about our couples colonoscopies this past month. Suffice it to say our marriage can now survive ANYTHING. Iowa 20, Nevada 16
Todd Brommelkamp — The only Wolfpack I recognize the existence of includes Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Iowa 31, Nevada 6
