KCRG-TV9 morning anchor Jay Greene was terminated Sunday from the station he’d worked as morning anchor, just days after the station learned of an incident involving him.
Additional details of the incident, which station management learned of Friday night, were not being released Sunday. Greene had been a morning anchor with the station since April 2020, and had worked as a digital producer at the station since 2018.
“After investigating the relevant facts, the station determined Mr. Greene violated the station’s code of conduct and have terminated Mr. Greene’s employment effective immediately,” the station said in a news release Sunday afternoon.
The termination means the Cedar Rapids-based station, owned by Atlanta-based Gray Television, has two anchor seats — a 10 p.m. and morning anchor — open on its news team. Chris Earl, selected to replace longtime anchor Bruce Aune in 2020, left the station earlier this month after 14 years with the station to pursue a career opportunity in Florida.
