What’s your New Year’s resolution?
Time to reset!

Every Jan. 1 is something of a clean slate — a fresh opportunity to start over or improve in the new year.
People often pick specific things they want to change and set goals this time of year. These are called New Year’s resolutions, and they’re promises to ourselves to do or not do something.
According to the Washington Post’s KidsPost, this tradition started during the reign of Julius Caesar more than 2,000 years ago. The resolutions of the time were moral, like being nice to others. Nowadays, resolutions often have to do with exercising or saving money.
What goals do you have for 2022? What new things do you want to learn? What do you want to be different?
Sticking to resolutions can be difficult. But if you stay persistent and keep trying, you can make real changes. Just think: a year from now, you’ll look back at all the progress you made.
Adopt one of these resolutions, or write your own:
- Make a new friend
- Floss every night
- Read a new book every week
- Spend 5 minutes every morning stretching
- Recycle more
- Compliment someone at school
- Say thank you more often
- Learn to bake or cook something new
- Call your grandparent more often
- Stand up for someone in need
- Volunteer for a cause you care about
- Stop biting your nails
- Be kind to your teachers
- Sit with someone new at lunch
- Be kind to your siblings
- Spend more time outdoors after school
- Do your chores without complaining
- Raise and donate money to a cause
- Learn the names of your elected representatives
- Keep your room organized
