IOWA CITY — Iowa’s isn’t quite at the top of the college football world anymore.
The Hawkeyes fell from No. 2 to No. 11 in the Associated Press Poll after their 24-7 loss to unranked Purdue.
The No. 2 ranking was Iowa’s highest since 1985.
The Hawkeyes spent five consecutive weeks as a top-five team in the AP poll. Now they have their lowest ranking since the preseason poll.
The USA Today Sports AFCA Coaches Poll moved the Hawkeyes from No. 2 to No. 11. No other top-15 team in the poll fell more than three spots.
Purdue, previously unranked, joined the AP poll at No. 25.
The Big Ten has four top-10 teams in the AP poll, which is down from a record-high five teams last week.
None of the Hawkeyes’ remaining five regular-season opponents are ranked.
