Mario Minnaert, 31, of North Liberty, will run the 4x4x48 Goggins Challenge, in which the goal is to run four miles every four hours for 48 hours. Created by retired U.S. Navy seal, ultramarathoner, public speaker and author David Goggins, the challenge unites people around the world running the same distance, often at the exact same time.

Mario Minnaert will run 48 miles this weekend as a fundraiser to support mental health awareness and NAMI Linn County, and is inviting others to donate toward his cause.

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) of Linn County is offering a free virtual eight-week educational course for family members of adults living with mental illness. Registration is required by Monday and the course begins Jan. 5.

Online event is Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

NAMI Family-to-Family is a free eight-week educational course for family members of adults living with mental illness. The program begins Sept. 15 and will run through Nov. 3.

NAMI Linn County, local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, will offer the NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group from 6 to 7:30 p.m. the first and third Monday of the month.
