CEDAR RAPIDS — During the holidays, stress and worry may worsen serious mental health of a loved one. Parents, spouses, siblings and friends struggle with the right things to do for their loved one. The NAMI Family-to-Family Virtual Program provides a helpful hand to alleviate some of the mystery.
This free virtual eight-week educational course for family members of adults living with mental illness begins at 6 p.m. Jan. 5. The course is conducted by trained family members using evidence-based methods.
Attendees will learn symptoms, causes, current treatments and coping skills; find ways to manage crises, solve problems and communicate effectively; and gain the confidence and stamina to provide support with compassion.
