CEDAR RAPIDS - One of two McKinley Middle School employees who was placed on paid leave in connection to a sexual abuse investigation returned to work Friday.
In an update to McKinley Middle School parents on Friday, Superintendent Brad Buck said the school district decided to allow the employee back at school after an internal investigation. The employee, who was placed on leave Monday, April 17, has not been named.
A Cedar Rapids police investigation of sexual abuse by another McKinley Middle School employee is ongoing, police said Friday.
The first employee, who also has not been named, was placed on administrative leave 'as soon as the district was made aware of the allegations,” according to an April 14 statement from the school district.
Cedar Rapids Community School District officials reported allegations of sex abuse at the 520-student middle school, 620 10th St. SE, to police on April 12.
