Cedar Rapids police investigating report of sexual abuse at McKinley Middle School

CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids Police Department is investigating a report of sexual abuse by an employee at McKinley Middle School.

The Cedar Rapids Community School District reported the incident to police on Wednesday, a spokeswoman for the school district said in a statement.

The employee was placed on administrative leave 'as soon as the district was made aware of the allegations,” according to the statement. 'At this time, the district can only share that the investigation is being conducted by the Cedar Rapids Police Department as the law requires the district to keep personnel and student information confidential.”

A spokesman for the Cedar Rapids Police Department confirmed the department received the report on Wednesday and said he could not release further information as the investigation is ongoing.

About 520 sixth- through eighth-graders attend McKinley Middle School, which is located at 620 10th St. SE in Cedar Rapids.
