IOWA CITY - A man suffered a fractured skull a year ago when he was tossed from a table by an Iowa City bar employee, police said.
According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, around 1 a.m. on April 3, 2015, 38-year-old Stanley Szeto was working at Union Bar in downtown Iowa City. Police said Szeto observed the victim - who is not identified - standing on a picnic table inside the bar, which is against the bar rules.
The victim told police Szeto threw him from the table onto the ground, causing him to lose consciousness. Police said the man was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with a fractured skull. He has since had ongoing problems with headaches and his vision, police said.
Szeto admitted to having to remove the victim from the bar, but said the man was resistant and had to be taken to the ground. The man might have hit his head during that interaction, Szeto said.
Szeto has been arrested and faces one count of assault causing serious injury, a Class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
