Semi tips, spills corn on Highway 13

Feb. 13, 2018 7:46 am
CENTRAL CITY - The driver of a semi was hospitalized Tuesday morning after he crashed south of Central City.
According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, deputies, the Central City Fire Department, Center Point Ambulance and Iowa Department of Transportation responded to a report of a tipped over semi at the intersection of Highway 13 and Indian Bridge Road. Authorities said the driver, 21-year-old Kody M. Orcutt, of Earlville, lost control of his semi and entered the median, causing the semi to tip.
The load of corn Orcutt was carrying spilled onto the highway, prompting authorities to shutdown one lane of Highway 13 southbound until the corn and semi can be removed.
Orcutt, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was taken to Unity-Point St. Luke's Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
