Anamosa woman arrested after driving wrong way on I-380

Police say her car nearly struck a truck head on

CEDAR RAPIDS — An Anamosa woman faces charges after police say she drove the wrong way on Interstate 380 while intoxicated.

Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said officers were called to a crash in the northbound lanes of Interstate 380 near Collins Road at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday. Police said a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Olivia J. Deutmeyer, 23, was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes and nearly hit a 2016 Ford F250 truck head on.

Buelow said the driver of the truck took evasive measures to avoid the head-on collision, but the Cruze hit and damaged the right side of the truck, as well as a trailer.

Deutmeyer faces charges of second offense drunken driving, reckless driving and driving on the wrong side of a divided highway.

She suffered minor injuries in the crash, Buelow said.
