Fire damages North Liberty home, garage

Incident took place Sunday evening

NORTH LIBERTY — The North Liberty Fire Department responded to a house fire Sunday evening.

According to a department news release, crews were called to 8 Brickwood Knoll NE, east of North Liberty, at 6:11 p.m. for a report of a house fire. Responding firefighters found an attached garage on fire and the flames had spread into the residence.

Crews had the fire under control within an hour, fire department officials said.

Officials said the garage sustained heavy fire damage and parts of the home had smoke and water damage, but no damage estimate was immediately available.

There were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
