West handed loss by one of the best

Defending Class 3A dual champions and third-ranked Iowa City West faced one of the nation's best teams Saturday at its Super Quad.
Apple Valley (Minn.), ranked third nationally by Wrestling insider Newsmagazine and fourth by InterMat, posted a 40-16 victory, winning nine matches and scoring bonus points in six matches with three pins.
Mickey Pelfrey (182), Phillip Laux (113), Jack Hathaway (126), Dakota Bauer (132) and 160-pounder Justin Koethe each scored wins for the Trojans (22-2).
Hathaway notched the biggest win, scoring two nearfall points in the second period to beat Dakota Trom, ranked 13th nationally by W.I.N.
West won its other two duals by a combined score of 93-39.
