Hawkeyes capture nine automatic NCAA berths

With Aaron Janssen's consolation semifinal win over Michigan's Dan Yates at 165 pounds, the University of Iowa claimed nine automatic bids to the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships March 17-19 at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
The 3-1 win put Janssen in the top four and the Big Ten Conference earned five automatic spots. The Big Ten received 64 automatic selections, which is up from a year ago.
Matt McDonough (125), Tony Ramos (133), Montell Marion (141), Derek St. John (157), Ethen Lofthouse (174), Grant Gambrall (184), Luke Lofthouse (197) and heavyweight Blake Rasing will all compete in the NCAA tournament. Only McDonough and Marion have wrestled at the national meet.
