2011-12 prep wrestling: Individuals to watch

Tyler Shulista, Alburnett, sr., Two-time state champion and three-time state placewinner, posted 51-1 record and won Class 1A 119-pound state title last year.

Phillip Laux, Iowa City West, sr., Class 3A state champion at 103 pounds with 47-2 record. Signed with University of Wisconsin

Aalijah Jeffery, Linn-Mar, so., Placed third at last season's state meet at 103 pounds, going 42-6.

Joel Northrup, Linn-Mar, jr., Two-time state qualifier, placing third in 2010 at 103 pounds. Compiled 37-7 record at 112 pounds last season.

Zach Witte, C.R. Prairie, sr., Two-time state finalist and Class 3A 145-pound state champion last season, going 39-0 record. Signed with University of Northern Iowa.

Logan Mulnix, North-Linn, sr., Two-time state finalist, finishing second at 135 pounds in Class 1A. Went 40-2 last year after winning 125-pound title in 2010.

Dakota Bauer, Iowa City West, sr., Two-time state finalist, finishing second at 130 pounds in Class 3A and recording 41-5 mark. Won Class 2A 112-pound state title in 2009. Signed with Iowa State University.

Jack Hathaway, Iowa City West, sr.  Three-time state placewinner, capturing Class 3A 125-pound state title last season with a 53-3 record. Signed with Oregon State University.

Luke Kremer, C.R. Kennedy, sr.,  Three-time state qualifier and two-time state medalist. Placed third at 135 pounds in Class 3A, going 41-4.

Kolbi Kohl, Lisbon, sr., Class 1A 125-pound state runner-up last season and two-time state medalist. Went 33-6 last season.

Joe Koehn, Valley Community, sr., Class 1A state medalist at heavyweight last year, placing fifth in 2010. Posted a 43-3 record.

Kegan Wakefield, Iowa City West, jr., Class 3A state runner-up at 119 pounds in 2011, recording 42-7 mark.

Andrew Netolicky, C.R. Prairie, jr., Placed sixth at 189 pounds  in Class 3A. Went 41-11 as a sophomore.

Justin Koethe, Iowa City West, sr., Three-time state placewinner, finishing third each of the last two seasons. Went 47-4 record last year and has signed with University of Wisconsin.

J.C. Vercande, Williamsburg, sr., Three-time state medalist, placing sixth at 130 pounds after finished sixth and eighth the two previous years. Had a 48-7 record last year.

Logan Thomsen, Union Community, jr., Two-time state medalist, finishing third at 130 pounds in Class 2A. Compiled 45-3 mark. Was a state finalist in 2010.

Nick Fuller, Independence, sr., State runner-up at 160 pounds in Class 2A last season. Finished with 41-5 record as a junior.

Zach Less, West Delaware, jr., State runner-up at 103 pounds in Class 2A last season. Went 32-8.
