With Class 3A top-ranked Williamsburg trailing early in the nightcap of Monday’s Wamac twinbill with Center Point-Urbana, Curtin pitched six innings of one-hit, shutout ball, and the Raiders went on to pick up the sweep, 3-0 and 10-3, at Jim Turner Field.

When Class 3A top-ranked Williamsburg lost its first game of Wednesday’s Wamac Conference doubleheader to 3A No. 5 Benton Community — its third consecutive setback after a 5-0 start — it was met more with shrugs than shudders.
The Hawkeyes’ freshman Harlee Hiller capped off a perfect debut with two wins on her birthday, while Nyla Valencia, Reese Larramendy and the rest of the team didn’t concede a point in the first-ever All-Iowa Dual.
The Hawkeyes beat both Central College and Cornell.
