Jennifer Kay Drahos and Kombiz Navaei Lavasany were married March 15, 2014 at the Powerhouse Community Center in Del Mar, CA. Justin Krebs, a friend who

introduced the couple, officiated the

ceremony.

The bride will continue to use her name

professionally. She is an epidemiologist and Cancer Prevention Fellow at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD. She

graduated from the University of Iowa and

received a Ph.D. in microbiology from

Columbia University. She also received a Master of Public Health degree from

Harvard.

She is the daughter of Duane F. Drahos and Kathy L. McMurrin, and stepdaughter of Sheila A. Drahos, all of Cedar Rapids, IA.

The groom is the Director of Research and Strategic Initiatives at the American

Federation of Teachers in Washington, D.C. He graduated from the University of

California, San Diego.

He is the son of Ashraf Lavasany of Yorba Linda, CA, and the late Abbas N. Lavasany.

The couple are planning a fall honeymoon trip to Italy.
