CEDAR RAPIDS — Cedar Rapids city officials are holding a news conference at 10 a.m. today at City Hall, 101 First St. SE, to discuss plans for dealing with projected high river levels.
Livestream is available to view on Facebook here.
Gazette photographer Stephen Malley plans to video stream the news conference. Watch this space for the video at 10:00.
The Cedar River is forecast to crest Monday night or Tuesday morning at more than 24 feet. That would be the second highest level at which the river has crested in history, according to the Iowa Flood Information System.
The highest level was 31.12 feet on June 13, 2008.
As of now, the second highest crest on record is 20 feet, which has happened on two occasions — first on June 1, 1851, and again on March 18, 1929.
