It was another hot day in Washington, Iowa, as the town saw one of the state's hottest temperatures on Tuesday.
The high was 102, but with the heat index it felt like 120.
The high temperatures and scorching heat indexes are all too familiar with people in Washington, and that's why some aren't letting the heat slow them down.
Dawn Ledger of Washington, was out golfing on Tuesday. "You can't hardly breathe when you walk outside, it's so humid. You should stay inside," Ledger said.
Since July 20, there has only been one day that Washington hasn't seen a heat index over 100 degrees.
Maria, Ayala, of Washington, doesn't have air conditioning in her car. She was driving around with the windows down on Tuesday, in hopes of staying somewhat cool.
"It's really bad, it's hot. I want to be inside of the house or at the pool," Ayala said.
Bust some residents, like Ledger, weren't letting the continuous heat wave burn out their summer. Ledger and many other community members participated in the Washington chamber's golf tournament on Tuesday.
"It's just one of those things where you just do it," Ledger said. "It's hot, but its still fun and you're with a group of people so it's fun."
For a short period of time on Tuesday, golfers found relief from the hot sun, in the form of a brief rain shower. "It was excruciating. We were soaking from sweating but then it started raining and we were wet from the rain, which was nice," Ledger said.
But the sun was beating down once again as the rain quickly went away. It was something many golfers were hoping would stay.
"It's been a couple weeks since we've seen rain," Ledger said. "It's been dry, it's hot, and the only water the course has seen is from the sprinklers."
Though some people didn't mind the heat, most people are hoping even some low 90's will come their way.
