Authorities say heavy rain, high winds and hail have pounded much of Iowa, but no injuries have been reported.
There were several reports of uprooted trees, vehicles blown off roadways and roofs damaged or torn off late Tuesday and early Wednesday morning as a line of storms raced eastward through the state.
Power lines were downed in Ames and other cities in central Iowa and east in Grundy County.
MidAmerican Energy reported about 20 customers had lost power in Waterloo.
Rain was expected to continue through the mid-morning hours. Once the first round of storms clear, the afternoon is expected to be dry and warm, with temperatures in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
Be prepared for another round of storms to follow during the evening. Severe weather returns with strong chances of hail, wind and torrential rainfall.
