Power outages, tree damage reported after thunderstorms pound parts of Iowa

Some power outages and crop and tree damage have been reported after thunderstorms that pounded away at some parts of Iowa.
Rainfall totals of up to an inch were reported from Wednesday and overnight storms.
No injuries have been reported, including in Marshalltown, where thousands of RAGBRAI bicyclists stopped for the night.
By 10 p.m., about 10,000 MidAmerican Energy and Alliant Energy customers had lost electricity, but that number plummeted as utility crews worked through the night. By 6:15 a.m. Thursday, Alliant reported that just over 1,600 customers remained without power. MidAmerican says 685 customers in metropolitan areas had no electricity.
Damage to cornfields was reported north of Salix in northwest Iowa.
The National Weather Service says storms also passed through the southeast corner of Iowa early Thursday morning.
