The Storm Prediction Center has confirmed the storm system produced a derecho that started in central Iowa and swept through Eastern Iowa before moving on to Illinois and Indiana.
The weather service confirmed a tornado hit Des Moines, Iowa, as storms rolled through Monday afternoon and into the night.
