Conditions will be conducive for severe weather as we roll into the evening hours, and the National Weather Service is keeping an eye on the movement, declaring a tornado watch for several counties, including Johnson and Linn.
The tornado watch as it is currently in effect (starting at 4:00 p.m.) is set to continue through 11:00 p.m. Other nearby counties included in the list are (among others): Washington, Cedar, Iowa, Benton, Buchanan and Scott.
The first band of storms appears to be heading northeast of the Corridor, but there are more storms to come to the southwest.
The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has forecasted that the most active period for storms should be between 2:00 and 10:00 p.m. The storms are predicted to be quick moving, potentially having high wind speeds and hail, and the potential for tornado formation remains.
