More than 2,000 customers have been without power since 6:00 in the Wellington Heights area of Cedar Rapids.
According to the Alliant Energy Outage Map, as of 7:22 p.m., 2,511 customers were listed as having no power in the area.
Alliant spokesman Mike Wagner said that the outage was caused by a tree falling on a power line near the intersection of near Bever Avenue and 20th St SE at 6:24 p.m.
"We're in the process of removing the tree and putting the line back into working order," Wagner said.
The site lists the projected power restoration time as 9:00 tonight. Wagner confirmed that the work is on schedule for restoration at that time.
The 2,511 number is reduced from the original number of 2,700 reported by Alliant at the initial time of the outage.
