More snow today, bitter cold for rest of week

More snow is on its way into Iowa but the big problem may be the bitter cold that will follow.
The National Weather Service in Des Moines forecasts up to an inch of snow across much of the state Wednesday with a little more in northern Iowa.
That's not much, but just a little more snow would make December the second-snowiest month in Des Moines history, topping the 28 inches recorded in March 1912. The record is 37 inches that piled up in January 1886.
More than snow, forecaster Brad Small says the big issue will be frigid temperatures that will move into Iowa beginning Thursday.
By Saturday morning, temperatures could plunge to the teens below zero in some parts of Iowa with highs struggling to reach the teens above zero through Tuesday.
