Another snowstorm bearing down on Iowa

A potent snowstorm is still on track to move into the area Friday, and could drop as much as eight inches of snow in parts of Eastern Iowa, as part of a system that's been developing for several days.
KCRG-TV9 First Alert Storm Team meteorologist Kaj O'Mara said this storm system began as part of the big Pacific system that impacted Washington and Oregon earlier this week. Lots of snow was recorded out there, along with 100 MPH wind gusts. The system coming through on Friday is a piece of that larger system out in the Pacific.
Winter storm warnings and watches have been posted for areas along and north of Highway 30.
While a bullseye of heaviest snow has not been determined, it appears widespread 5 to 8 inch totals are likely. Given the system, and the cold air in place allowing for high snow-to-water ratios, isolated 10-inch amounts may occur. If so, it'd be most likely to occur between Highway 30 and Highway 20. The snow will be very fluffy, allowing for easy accumulations.
Roads will become slick quickly on Friday and stay slick all the way through Friday night. Confidence is high on 5-8? totals, but more tweaking may be necessary as the storm approaches. Either way, expect snow and cold in your area.
