Keep those shovels and snowblowers handy. You'll likely need them today.
Snow will be spreading over the area throughout the day Friday, and it will become moderate to heavy at times, according to KCRG-TV9 First Alert Storm Team meteorologist Kaj O'Mara.
There is still some uncertainty as to where the highest snowfall band will be located, but as of Friday morning, it appears locations along and north of Highway 30 will have the best chance at 4 to 6 inches of snow, with snowfall amounts rapidly dropping along and south of I-80.
Many area school districts are dismissing classes early today, including Cedar Rapids, Linn-Mar, College Community and Iowa City. The University of Northern Iowa is also calling off classes at noon. Check the delays and cancellations link below for updates.

Locations along Highway 20 have the highest probability to see the heavier band of snow, with isolated 8-inch totals not out of the question, O'Mara said.
