[Volleyball] Mustangs gear up for MCC Tournament with sweep of Tigers

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Mount Mercy geared up for the postseason with a 25-16, 25-20, 25-17 victory over Iowa Wesleyan in a Midwest Collegiate Conference regular season finale on Tuesday at Hennessey Recreation Center.
Junior Brittney Thomas and seniors Deidre Schaefer and Becca Lampe were Mount Mercy's offensive leaders, combining for 39 of the team's 51 kills against the Tigers. Thomas led the way with 16, Schaefer added 13 and Lampe 10.
Senior Janae Rosien assisted 28 of those kills and junior Riley Banes collected 14 assists. Defensively, Lampe had a team-high 14 digs. Sophomore Meghan Nelson had 13 digs, Thomas tallied 12 and Rosien 11.
The Mustangs (21-11) head into the MCC Tournament with their highest win total since 2005 when Mount Mercy finished 25-11. They will be the fifth seed and travel to Kehl Arena in Clinton to face fourth-seeded Ashford (21-18). Start time will be determined on Wednesday.
