Wednesday’s Class 2A regional finals
Dyersville Beckman 3, West Burlington 0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-17)
A three-year state tournament drought doesn't sound all that long.
For a school like Dyersville Beckman with a steep volleyball tradition, it seemed like an eternity.
The Trailblazers had not been to state since 2021 and it was something the team thought about all season
“Coach (Todd Troutman) told us at the beginning of the season that we were going to make it down there,” said senior Katelyn Schmitt. “We wanted to prove how good we are and that we belong (at state).”
With Schmitt and fellow senior Alli Scherbring leading the way Wednesday, Beckman more than proved it belonged.

Iowa City Regina 3, Pella Christian 1 (25-15, 14-25, 25-11, 25-16)
Pick any superlative. It wouldn’t have done Reese Naeve justice Wednesday night.
“She was amazing,” setter Nora Wilhelm said.
Even that accolade seemed to fall short.
Naeve recorded 39 kills, leading eighth-ranked Iowa City Regina past No. 9 Pella Christian and into the state tournament for the first time since 2017.
