Finalists for Athlete of the Week

Here are the finalists for this week's KCRG-TV9 Athlete of the Week.
Megan Gilbert
Tripoli
Volleyball
Megan is a senior for the Panther volleyball team. This past weekend she led Tripoli to their 4th-straight state title, beating LeMars Gehlen in the final, 3-0. Megan was named the All-Tournament team captain in Class 1A. Tripoli finished 40-3 on the year.
In three matches at state she had 64 kills. During the season she led Class 1A in total kills with over 500, as well as leading in kill efficiency. Next year she will play volleyball at St. Louis University.
Sara Jesse

Volleyball
Sara is a senior for the Knights volleyball team. She helped lead them to a semifinal finish at the state tournament. They upset 2nd-ranked Solon in the first round at state. In just two matches at the state tournament she had 76 assists. They lost to Waverly Shell-Rock in the semifinals.
During the season she was 2nd in all of Class 3A in total assists, and #1 in assists per set at over 10 per set. She had over 1,000 assists for the season. Next year she will play volleyball at DMACC.
Shelly Stumpff

Shelly is a senior for the Women of Troy volleyball team. This past weekend she helped lead West to their 2
Shelly will play volleyball at Wingate University next year. The Women of Troy won this one in dramatic fashion, 3-2, over their rivals from City High. Shelly was named captain of the All-tournament team. She finished the state tournament with 44 kills, 2nd in 4A. During the season she was 2nd in 4A in total kills. The Women of Troy won the state title for their former teammate Caroline Found, who died in a moped accident before the season started.
