The Gazette offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
Where are you from and where did you go to school?
I am from Portland Ore. and I graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisc.
How long have you been at The Gazette?
I’ve been at The Gazette for 9 months.
Describe your beat.
I cover local government at the county level and then Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty, a little bit of Tiffin as well as some other business and development news.
What do you like about being the Johnson County reporter?
I like that people care a lot about local government in Johnson County. I think you wouldn’t see that in a lot of places. So I really appreciate just the staff, the elected officials and the community members all (being) really willing to engage with me and the things that I write about.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love kind of switching off between trying out local coffee shops as well as exploring the craft beer scene. I’m also a big reader. I also collect CDs. I’m a big physical media person.
Share a fun fact.
I have a goal to visit all of the major league baseball parks. I’ve been to 20 so far, and there’s only 30 so I’m getting close here.
