The brackets for the 2023 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships were released Wednesday. Iowa duo of Spencer Lee and Real Woods were No. 1 seeds at 125 and 141, respectively. Iowa State’s David Carr and UNI’s Parker Keckeisen were top seeds at 165 and 184.

Northern Iowa earned two at-large NCAA Wrestling Championships berths, increasing its number of qualifiers to seven. Former Lisbon four-time prep Cael Happel was an alternate last season, but earned an at-large bid at 141, while former Union Community prep Derek Holschlag received one at 157.

Iowa State advanced six to the semifinals of the Big 12 Wrestling Championships Saturday in Tulsa, Okla. The Cyclones had 52.5 points, trailing leader Missouri and second-place Oklahoma State. UNI was in sixth with 32.5 and three semifinalists.
UNI’s Parker Keckeisen is the Big 12’s two-time defending champion at 184. Those championships have made it five straight conference titles for UNI in the weight class.
